Strings in Greece
Art and photography
The art option is open to everyone, no matter whether
one is a complete beginner or someone who has had plenty of art practice. Three dimensional work and installations are encouraged as much as painting, drawing, photography, video and digital imaging.
The island has a fantastic variety of subject matter; dramatic landscapes, many set against a backdrop of deep blue sea or the mountains of the southern Pelopponese which lie across the straits separating the island from mainland Greece. Plunging cliffs, isolated beaches, lush wooded valleys and gorges, waterfalls, hillside villages and historic sites and castles are just some of the possible subjects.
In recent year's we have themed the art option. These have have included ancient footpaths (2012), the Chitra (Aphrodite) rock (2013) and, this year (2014), a commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the first Allied landing in Greece, on Kapsali beach in 1944.
In past years we have used the exhibition space of the Zeidoros centre www.zeidoros.gr to put on a show of artworks created during the week.
Some art materials are provided but it is recommended you also bring your own preferred materials and equipment
